For us non-technical types... I know I can see my version in Discoverer under Help/About Discoverer, but how do I see my latest patch level? Any option other than ask the dba?

Patch levels are identified using OPatch. There is no mechanism within the tool to see what patch has been applied.
The syntax is:
OPatch - lsinventory
